Get a Behind-The-Scenes Look at Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws

Ubisoft has released a brand-new behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars Outlaws, which is scheduled to release in 2024.

The the new was shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 and reveals the ambitions of Star Wars Outlaws with Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment.

Shown off in the trailer was the iconic locations that Star Wars fans are likely familiar with if they’ve watched the movies and played past games. This includes a return to Tatooine with an “authentic feel”, but it was also said that there will be “new points of interest” in these familiar locations.

A new planet and area that has been designed by Lucasfilm and Massive Entertainment is ‘Toshara’ which has been built from the ground up with the “scoundrel foundry at its beating heart”.

The team at Ubisoft flew out to Tanzania for some inspiration when designing Toshara, which will feature windswept planes, veins of ambrein, and a a massive city at the heart called ‘Murugana’, which is built into a massive rock.

Star Wars Outlaws takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, with players taking control of an of outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess (portrayed by Humberly González) and her companion Nix (portrayed by Dee Bradley Baker). The games premise is to “attempt one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen”.

The game’s development is led by game director Mathias Karlson and creative director Julian Gerighty. Gerighty said that the time period between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi was selected because his colleagues “are all huge fans of the original trilogy”.

Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled to release in 2024 on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and, PC.
